Eve

by Patricia Hawkes

Original Language English

In a hermitage garden
with ivy-covered walls
a bumblebee‘s drone
snaps time;
I am lost,
rooted to the spot,
transported;

swallows dip overhead,
a wren flits in the ivy,
seals bicker out on the rocks;
to me they are all one now,
a seamless effervescence

in Eden.
