(After Colin Oliver)
On the way home I stop
2002

This haiku-like poem is inspired by the first line of the Colin Oliver poem "At the Bridge." In fact, it IS the first line of Colin Oliver's poem but, with a few well-placed line breaks, it becomes, I hope, a self-obliterating poem in its own right.
On the journey, we discover we are already home. Wherever we are on the journey, we are already there. It is then that the sense of "I" stops.
