  Fire
  Heart
  Smile
 
 

 

The mystery is this —

that you can flash
such a great giddy grin

that everyone
you know
and every thing
you know
will pass you by.

Seeing you burned
down to dust,
all but your still
smoldering heart

and, of course, that
toothy smile
teasing gravity,

seeing you
no more,

they think
perhaps
they — too — exist
no more,

and hurry on
heads down.
