Ra
we were scarab beetles
mating,
we were emeralds
in the sun,
the moon,
ever the jealous lover,
crushed us with her longing
and we were rivers into
the afterlife
and now the swirling sands
of discordant time have
given wings to the swans
of our long-lived reflection
and I the high priestess of your
beating heart burn with the light
of ten thousand days
sing songs of praise.

dear Anna
indeed Ra the sun god
would say HoooRa about this one !
though my eye slipped on a first go through
and somehow read
and I the thigh priestess
but then again the sun had not risen
and my backlit keyboard was glowing.
very nice poeming

Ra showed the beetles her line,
"...I the high priestess of your
beating heartburn.."
and admitted that he's getting so old
he needs glasses.
Somewhere across time,
beyond the sand in everything,
the fruitbats began mating upside down
imagining the beating
wings of swans.
Soon after,
she began looking UP.

What a wonderful thread this is. That looks like an ancient Egyptian treasure though I don't remember seeing it in any exhibit.
Thank you for returning to this poem, Eldyheart.

Reminds me of a film I saw of Michael McClure reading a poem outloud in a lion house at a zoo. The poem repeated the word Ra & after a while he had all the lions roaring with him.
