on to the thread folks........... with your permission...............

the clarity that one seeks in the crystal....................

ah !

the mind is the mirror, my friends ...................

the same mind is bondage and ignorance...........

the same mind it is that rebels against its servitude to the false....

and one day, some day, the same mind becomes crystal clear....

the false colour that existed not( in reality) but in mind, is shed forever

shed by whom......??? ......the mind , of course ...........

so say the buddhas ........... to the wisdom of the buddhas narinder bows ...

Joy to you folks................. in being yourself , rejoice

in loving yourself , be watchful and aware .................

The differences between East and West have been mentioned around... Following Campbell, a three poled dynamic seems to be in play, both in the West and in our smaller modern world in the East.

The poles? First, one's attitude towards the world tree, the tree of knowledge and of eternal life.

In Goddess days in the West, and according to Campbell still in the East, the world tree is freely available via the goddess, to anyone who is willing to initiate him/herself... while the goddess has positive and negative aspects these are integral and there is no concept of the fall of Adam and Eve. In the West the goddess undercurrent has remained alive, e.g. in the cult of Mary... while in the East, the incursion of the Sun God was absorbed into the Goddess matrix.

In the West, then, we have the split between God and Mankind, symbolized by the story of Adam and Eve (and many other such stories). The setup of Goddess times is inverted: what was of the Goddess is now of the God and King (solar, lion, eagle etc), what was of God and King (lunar, bull, snake) is now feminine or evil.

But there's more to the confusion in the West - and this confusion has been a major propulsive force in history.

On the one hand, originating in the Near East, the idea is that God judges Man, and Man's task is to attempt to behave to God's specification. This is essentially fundamentalist in nature - the Word is the Revealed Absolute Truth of God, not the scribbling of men - and the major Western religions are largely in this camp. The world, and humanity within it, is a battlefield of Good and Evil, and is judged by God.

On the other hand, originating in Europe proper, is the idea that Man judges God - this is the individualistic, humanistic view - where we see the world by the measure of man. Unfortunately, we have the legacy of the Cartesian bargain, where our experience was divided into two: the (humanistic) science having to do with investigation of the tangible only, and the (more fundamentalist) religion having to do with all things Godly and spiritual. Thus it is that the humanistic view is rarely seen for what it truly can offer in understanding, enlightenment, and freedom. Anyone spiritually oriented in the West has only two places to turn: that of the fundamental Western religions, or the Eastern varieties (though the Western religions do have out-croppings of the Goddess as well as humanism...)

This is an unfortunate prejudice and one that is all too often uncoscious and confused: we need enlightenment about this!

So it is that to many of us in the West, these three threads come out garbled and we may be acting out one in one context while acting out another in another context.

Perhaps the poles shift once in a lifetime....

When? That is entirely dependent (and opitional) upon our internalized
programming. Think not that thoughts are anything else than the programs of our ancestors, reassembled and regurgitated....recreated in the images we hold.

What IS the difference that IS creativity itself????? How we come together in this one moment.

everything you say is what I have also surmised, Nessie...

that's why the whole religious rule idea seems so assinine to me...

I don't like systems...I like people...

and after looking over all the possiblities for groking the Divine, after all these years, Jesus Christ, who is a person, still works best for me...

but few really know Him...

it takes a lifetime to even begin to know Him...

for me, He is both God and Goddesss...all wrapped up in One Divine...

but I don't make claims for anyone else...

and I am VERY tired of smug, self-satsified religionists people who preach their belief systems all the time...

and the more they preach, the less I believe these wolves in sheeps clothing...

thank you, ness.................................yes,

enlightenment it is ..................that ends all the confusion

enlightenment is the search of the self for the self

and the way is the awareness of the pain that the False generates in the self .................

when one becomes aware of the anger, despair, bitterness, and confusion that haunts the self ..................and seeks the freedom from them , by going within oneself for the responsibility for them ....................

one is able to shed the eclipsing factor from the self ................

one becomes enlightened ....................

and the choice .......... invariably.............. lies with the self .............. whether to listen to the voice of the buddhas .............. or one's mind ...

choose enlightenment , pay heed to what Christ and Krishna say , and walk the Path of Love and Light forever ............ dear narinder .........
that is what nari would say ............ you shall always be your own proof !!!!

ness,

What you say in your last thread
about E-W & humanism
reminds me of a stage lighting specialist.
He has three color filters -- red, blue and green.
When he uses the red filter, everything we see is red.
How can we know that everything is yellow?
No! where bluebirds fly over the rainbow, cities are made of emeralds!

Ah... seeing is a sense!
Flying is nonsense!
Prodigal daughter returns from purple Africa...

So I close my eyes
to make the Play go away
and pray.....

for one enlightening definition of the word 'light'

and kinky boots.

enlightenment ?

Love ....................

love that does not wax or vane .............

ahimsa smiling

singing the song that sprouts as the spread of the smile

in the heart of the 'other'.........................

ahimsa indeed is love ....................

ah, nari......

how beautifully you sing

what beautiful words you write,

but nari..............

what is your conduct , do you practise what you preach ?

does your conduct with those around you spread joy and cheer

and make them feel loved for being themselves ...........

yes, nari ............. ?

ah narinder, narinder ...................

nari does not always succeed ............ yet he strives, and strives and strives

strives to express the perfection preached in action...........

and when he fails, to God, Existence, he retreats

and forgiveness of God and the self he seeks ...........

praying for strength and wisdom

that to Ahimsa and Love may lead ...............

" one is ever and ever one's own proof , narinder,

only the self can know the self

how well does perfection of preaching and practising ,

in the self does blossom as fragrance of being ..."

yes, enlightenment is the practise of perfection in action ................

and the buddhas show us the way that leads to the Light that is Love True

Subject: Guidelines for Enlightenment

SWAMI BEYONDANANDA'S GUIDELINES FOR ENLIGHTENMENT

1. Be a Fundamentalist - make sure the Fun always comes from the mental. Realize that life is a situation comedy that will never be canceled. A laugh track has been provided, and the reason why we are put in the material world is to get more material. Have a good laughsitive twice a day, and that will insure regular hilarity.

2. Remember that each of us has been given a special gift - just for entering. So you are already a winner!

3. The most powerful tool on the planet today is Tell-A-vision. That is where I tell a vision to you, and you tell a vision to me. That way, if we don't like the programming were getting, we can change the channel.

4. Life is like photography. You use the negative to develop. And, no matter what adversity you face, be reassured: Of course God loves you.

Hes just not ready to make a commitment..

5. It is true. As we go through life thinking heavy thoughts, thought particles tend to get caught between the ears, causing a condition called truth decay. So be sure to use mental floss twice a day. And when you're tempted to practice tantrum yoga, remember what we teach in Swamis Absurdiveness Training class: "Don't get even, get odd."

6. If we want world peace, we must let go of our attachments and truly live like nomads. That's where I no mad at you, you no mad at me. That way, therell surely be nomadness on the planet. And peace begins with each of us. A little peace here, a little peace there, pretty soon all the peaces will fit together to make one big peace everywhere.

7. I know great earth changes have been predicted for the future, so if you're looking to avoid earthquakes, my advice is simple. When you find a fault, just don't dwell on it.

8. There's no need to change the world. All we have to do is toilet train the world, and well never have to change it again.

9. If you're looking to find the key to the Universe, I have some bad news and some good news. The bad news is - there is no key to the Universe. The good news is - it has been left unlocked.

10. Finally, everything I have told you is channeled. That way, if you don't like it, its not my fault. And remember, enlightenment is not a bureaucracy. So you don't have to go through channels.

Following Swami Beyondananda's 10 guidelines
for finding perfect peace in a keyless universe
between fragmented selves seeking love
and flossing particles of thought
stuck between their ears,
I'm led to believe
enlightenment
is NOT to be found
in the practice of preaching anything.
